RAMEN CARTIER

The Displacement

Ramen Cartier is a 3D animation rendered with the V-Ray engine in 3ds Max, forming a pivotal part of The Displacement Trilogy. This piece explores Bill Brown’s “Thing Theory,” highlighting objects’ intrinsic significance beyond their utilitarian roles. Brown’s theory suggests that objects can transcend their functional use to acquire symbolic and narrative importance, becoming active participants.

In “Ramen Cartier,” seemingly unrelated elements, a luxury Cartier necklace and a bowl of ramen, are juxtaposed to create a new, independent meaning. These fusions challenge the anthropocentric perspective by asserting that objects possess their intrinsic reality and significance. By merging the elegance of a Cartier necklace with the indulgence of ramen, the artwork exemplifies how objects engage in complex interactions, reshaping our perception of the world in unexpected ways.
